'Telling stories through aesthetics'
Ever since I got my first camera after graduating grade school I was enamoured with the technology and the freedom to explore a plethora of genres within photography. At first I thought I wanted to stick to photographing products for advertising purposes: create technically perfect representations of the products, and while I still enjoy that very much I quickly fell in love with portrait photography. The first time I shot a portrait I was awestruck at how the light played on the subject's face and made their eyes shine, it was as if the picture was complete.
Nowadays I like to think I found my own style: a healthy mix of the picturesque and the contemporary with a focus on the aesthetics of it all, I like the juxtaposition of those two attributes.
Topics of the more hidden variety, and the issues associated with them, fascinate me. I believe telling stories through a more aesthetic lens increases the approachability of the message I'm trying to convey.
In a time where everything needs to be fast paced and immediately gratifying I want to take the time to explore the positivity in topics where this isn't the most talked about, I don't want to keep reinforcing the themes that overstate the negatives.
